MG TF Car Restoration Project

Today we are sharing Ray Bennetts fantastic restoration story....
45 years ago Ray rebuilt an MG TF (reg JAP 415) but has no idea where this is now. At the same time a man living on the same street also decided to rebuild his MG TF. Eventually Ray asked the man for first refusal when he came to sell his car.
It was 20 years later when the man rang Ray and asked if he was still interested in buying the car as he did not think he would be able to complete it due to having a family and moving out of the area. A work colleague had offered him £2000 and asked if Ray could match it. Ray said no, and offered £4000!
Ray hired a trailer to collect everything and left it in his garage as a retirement project. About 6 years ago Ray started to work on his project, completely stripping every nut and bolt, ordered a new body tub and started work with the help of his brother in law who was an ex-mechanic.
The car was then assembled for fit and sprayed but unfortunately Ray suffered some health problems which delayed the project further. The project has taken so long now that Ray is looking for someone to give the car a final paintwork touchup. He also needs to purchase and fit the weather equipment including the hood, tonneau cover and side screens.
Ray expressed his thanks to Dave Woakes at DMG who has been very helpful in sourcing and providing many parts over the years and today the car is nearly ready to roll!
Take a look at the beautiful MG TF! It has taken a lot of work to get to this stage but we’re sure you’ll all agree that it is looking stunning!
Good luck on the rest of your restoration project Ray and thanks for sharing your story with us…
